Last week, Year 5 embarked on an adventure down to North Devon where they took part in a variety of high adrenaline challenges.

Pupils began with the biggest challenge of them all….putting on a wetsuit! (a skill that they became more proficient with by the end of the week). They took to the assault course launching themselves into the refreshing water slides, monkey bars and the ultimate wipeout ball. Whilst nervous to begin with, everyone jumped off the platform with smiles and laughter.

Day two began with an enormous breakfast which set the children up well for the sunny walk to the coast and along the path to Westward Ho. There was much encouragement and laughter as the children fearlessly bodyboarded and surfed in the waves. The evening consisted of marshmallows around a campfire before a well-needed sleep.

Year 5 Teachers Mrs Rigby and Mrs Gibson said: “We were so impressed by the determination to attempt new skills and how polite our Year 5 children were to everyone they met.”

On the final day the children harnessed up and tackled the high rope course, renamed by the children as the ‘Sky Ropes’.  Despite the rain they demonstrated huge courage and teamwork.

The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all, with Year 5 children Lottie saying: ”I would recommend the ultimate wipeout – it was so much fun!” and Bertie saying: “It was a marvel of a trip!”
