Year 3 enjoyed an exciting adventure around our local town of Calne as part of a special Blue Plaque Walk. The children explored the streets safely, searching for blue plaques linked to important historical figures connected to our learning about the town’s past.

Edan shared his excitement, saying, “There is a plaque above my dad’s tattoo shop — I never knew that!”

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Heritage Centre, where the children discovered even more about Calne’s history. They were especially interested to learn about the history of our own school and how it has changed over the years.

During the visit, Year 3 found out that Dr Jan Ingen Housz, who lived in Calne, helped uncover the process of photosynthesis, while Joseph Priestley is famous for discovering oxygen.

The children also enjoyed a picnic lunch and free play in the sunshine at Castlefields Park. Millie commented, “Everyone’s having so much fun!”

The day was full of curiosity, discovery and excitement, and Miss Dunn and Miss Brown were proud of how brilliantly Year 3 represented the school throughout the trip.
