Caring for every child’s happiness, health and confidence so they can truly flourish
wellbeing
Celebrating success
Families are kept informed and involved, creating a joined-up approach that celebrates achievements and provides encouragement at every stage.
Our EASY system – Every Child Achieving Success for You – ensures no child is ever overlooked. Teachers meet regularly to share insights, track development and agree on the best ways to support each pupil’s academic, social and emotional progress.
wellbeing
Child focused initiatives
Every child is treated as an individual at St Margaret’s. Staff take time to understand personalities, interests and needs, ensuring children feel valued and confident.
Wellbeing is woven into the school day, from PSHE and mindfulness to creative play and reflection. By developing resilience, empathy and self-awareness, pupils are equipped with the skills to handle challenges positively and with confidence.
Safeguarding and health and wellbeing
Children’s safety is our priority. All staff receive regular safeguarding training and are supported by specialists in safeguarding, ensuring that St Margaret’s remains a safe, caring environment for every pupil. As well as staff who are fully first aid trained, we have our own on-site health centre, run by qualified nurses. Strong partnerships with families, ensure parents can enjoy peace of mind and children feel secure as they learn and grow.
wellbeing
Outdoor learning and play
Children blossom when they have time to explore, play and connect with nature. St Margaret’s outdoor spaces, from the woodland garden to the Early Years’ Courtyard, are integral to school life. They encourage curiosity, calm and wellbeing.
Purposeful outdoor learning develops confidence, resilience and teamwork. Whether planting in the eco-garden, taking part in Forest School or simply enjoying fresh air at break times, pupils discover balance, joy and freedom that complements their classroom experiences.
wellbeing
Food and healthy eating
Nutritious, freshly prepared meals play an important part in our wellbeing approach. Every day, children enjoy a choice of balanced dishes from hearty favourites to adventurous flavours – with menus designed to suit different tastes and dietary needs.
Mealtimes are about more than food. Pupils eat together, learning independence and sociability while enjoying the company of friends and staff. Shared dining experiences build confidence, encourage healthy habits and strengthen the sense of community at St Margaret’s.
wellbeing
Developing positive relationships and confidence from an early age
Wellbeing is embedded in the curriculum through PSHE, where children explore themes such as healthy minds, feelings, relationships and safety. Lessons give pupils the tools to reflect, empathise and make thoughtful choices.
This focus on emotional literacy helps children develop resilience and confidence from an early age. By understanding themselves and others, pupils build strong friendships and positive attitudes that support every stage of their journey.

Early years boarding
In Years 5 and 6, pupils can choose to board, either weekly or as a full boarder, enjoying the chance to build independence in a safe, caring environment. Boarding is in the Lower School at St Mary’s Calne, our senior school which shares our 27-acre campus. Living alongside girls their own age, our Year 5 and 6 boarders are guided by staff who understand and specialise in supporting young boarders.
Life in our Lower School boarding house blends learning with laughter. A fun-filled evening and weekends programme ensures every child feels part of one warm, inclusive community. Boarding life creates friendships, confidence and memories that last a lifetime.
