Where stories spark curiosity and imagination

Our library is a bright and welcoming space where children can relax, explore and discover the joy of reading. From picture books to gripping novels and fascinating non-fiction, there’s something to capture every imagination. With research showing reading for pleasure correlating with academic progress, our aim is to embed love of reading from an early age.

Cosy corners invite quiet moments, while teachers are always nearby to support discovery and inspire confidence. It’s a space that nurtures a love of stories and the excitement of learning independently.

Space where creativity thrives

In our spacious and inspiring art rooms, imagination takes centre stage. The walls are alive with children’s work, from bold paintings to intricate sketches, celebrating creativity in every form. Children are encouraged to explore a wide range of materials, including paint, charcoal, clay, textiles and printmaking, alongside more contemporary techniques.

With expert guidance from our specialist teachers, every pupil is supported to build skills, express their individuality and create work that is uniquely their own.

CAMPUS AND FACILITIES

Fully equipped science labs

St Margaret’s children benefit from access to fully-equipped science laboratories – a rare opportunity for a prep school. Our fully equipped labs allow children to explore biology, chemistry and physics with real equipment in a hands-on, engaging environment.

Through practical experiments and guided investigations, children are encouraged to question, test and discover. This early exposure to real-world science not only builds curiosity and confidence, but also lays strong foundations for future learning.

Purpose-built facilities for performing arts

It gives children a chance to share their talents, build confidence and feel proud of what they create. Flexible staging, lighting and acoustics create the right atmosphere for every occasion, from intimate recitals to full-scale productions.

We also have specialist music facilities, including practice rooms and a soundproof drumming studio. The chapel at St Mary’s Calne, our senior school sharing our 27-acre campus, provides an atmospheric setting for concerts and services offering rich opportunities for children to perform, collaborate and experience the arts as a vibrant part of school life.
