Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (Nursery)
In our Nursery, highly qualified staff provide a caring, nurturing start where children thrive and discover a love of learning. Structured play introduces reading, writing and number, while creativity is encouraged through music, role-play and art.
Children enjoy bright, purpose-built classrooms as well as outdoor learning spaces including our dedicated Early Years’ Courtyard. Every day offers opportunities to explore, play and practise new skills within the safe, stimulating environment of St Margaret’s Prep.

Hatchlings (lower nursery)
Our youngest children, the Hatchlings, begin their journey in a safe, welcoming space designed for exploration and growth. With guidance from caring Early Years staff, they enjoy Forest School, music and games. Separate play and rest areas provide comfort and security, while time spent alongside older children encourages friendships, independence and growing confidence.

Chicks (middle nursery) and Fledglings (upper nursery)
From the term after turning three, children take part in specialist-taught lessons in Swimming, Music, Games, Computing, French and Forest School. As part of the wider school community, they benefit from our facilities and enrichment opportunities – from theatre visits and Book Week to sports day and the Christmas Nativity. These experiences foster curiosity, creativity and lasting friendships.
