On Sunday 22 March, a group of our pupils took part in the National Schools Biathlon Finals at Bath University – the headquarters of Pentathlon GB.
The boys earned their place at the prestigious finals after strong performances competing in the South West Regional Qualification Biathlon at Millfield School. Representing the school were three pupils from Year 4 and two from Year 5 who competed against some of the best young athletes from across the country.
The Year 4 boys’ team of Max, Joshua and Henry finished in 5th place overall, a fantastic achievement. Max also excelled individually, finishing as the 7th fastest swimmer in the Under 9 competition. In the Year 5 event, Dylan and Oakley both performed brilliantly, with both boys ranking in the top 50 athletes in the highly competitive Under 10 age group, with Dylan achieving the 12th fastest swimmer in the category.
Mr Dury, Head of Sport said: “It was fantastic to see our boys competing with such confidence and supporting one another throughout the finals. They represented the school with pride and enthusiasm – and their sporting achievements are something they should be very proud of.”
