As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, our school community focussed on the importance of positive mental wellbeing.

Throughout the week, children took part in a wide range of activities organised by staff and members of the Student Council, all designed to encourage pupils to reflect on their own mental health and discover simple strategies to support their wellbeing.

Activities included arts and crafts, meditation and yoga sessions, dancing, music, outdoor learning and a variety of active games. These experiences highlighted how creativity, movement, mindfulness and spending time in nature can all have a positive impact on mental health and emotional wellbeing. All the sessions were incredibly popular, with children across the school enthusiastically joining in and supporting one another.

Year 4 Class Teacher, Miss Coombes said: “It has been wonderful to see our whole school community come together throughout the week. Whether that’s by taking part in yoga on the field, dancing in the playground during our outdoor disco or planting seeds alongside their friends. The week has been a fantastic reminder of the importance of connection, kindness and taking time to look after ourselves and each other.”
