Yesterday, a group of Year 3 and Year 4 children enjoyed a magical maths workshop to become Mathmagicians!
Sixteen children from local schools, including Monkton Park, Wansdyke, Sutton Benger and Pewsey spent an hour after school exploring fun maths tricks. They learned how to spot patterns, solve problems quickly and even perform tricks that made it look like they could read minds!
There were lots of smiles and laughter as the children discovered just how fun maths can be. When parents arrived, the children couldn’t wait to share their new skills and amaze them with their clever tricks in the playground.
One child said, “I want to come again and do it all again!”
To finish the workshop, everyone took home a chocolate fairy cake and plenty of maths tricks to practise on their grown-ups.
Mrs Harlock, Year 4 Teacher and Maths Leader, said: “It was fantastic to see the children getting excited by maths. They even played a few mathematical tricks on the Head Mr Hopkins who was amazed that the children could read his mind!”
