This month, the Marlborough Cricket Festival gave St Margaret’s girls a valuable opportunity to play hard ball matches against a variety of schools – building both experience and confidence.
The St Margaret’s team played three matches, giving all the girls opportunities to bat and bowl, while Isla, Rosamund and Emily also gained experience keeping wicket against a hard ball.
As the day progressed, the girls grew more assured at the crease, learning the importance of supporting their batting partner and making clear calls when running. Fielding improved with each match, and the bowling became increasingly accurate.
Between games, the team benefited from coaching by Marlborough’s sports staff and a tour of the school’s facilities. The day concluded with a closely fought final between Oratory and Farleigh Schools, with Farleigh securing a narrow five-run victory. Overall, it was a fantastic learning experience for all involved.
