On Friday 27 March, Mrs Mitchell and Miss Giles proudly accompanied our Lego League team ‘Lego Treasures Unearthed’ to GKN Aerospace to compete in the FIRST Lego League 2026 regional competition. The day was filled with excitement, innovation and teamwork as schools from across the region gathered to showcase their robot designs and research projects. Our team represented the school exceptionally well.
Their Innovation project presentation kick started the day beautifully with energy, passion and a touch of comedic acting. The judges praised the team’s enthusiasm and confidence, commenting on their impeccable manners and the impressive dedication shown in developing their project. In the robot design presentation and challenge rounds, the team impressed judges with their problem-solving abilities. They worked collaboratively to refine and test their programming and engineering, learnt from their mistakes and adapted their robot to complete complex tasks.
Mrs Mitchell, Head of Computing said: ‘The team were a joy to compete with. They embodied the Lego League core values throuhgout the day with their positivity, sportsmanship, creativity and respect. They kept their cool when things didn’t go as planned, rejoiced over even the smallest wins and took every opportunity offered to get stuck in and have fun!’
We are absolutely delighted to announce that ‘Lego Treasures Unearthed’ were awarded the Champions trophy – naming them the overall winners of the competition! This remarkable achievement means they will now progress to the National Finals in Harrogate this April.
Best of luck for the National Finals!
