The unique challenges faced by military families means stability, caring staff and opportunity matter deeply. In our shared 27-acre site, we educate girls aged 2 to 18 years and boys aged 2 to 11 years. We offer boarding for girls from Years 5 upwards. Fee discounts are available for UK service families.

Our Wiltshire setting, just over an hour from many military bases, offers both calm surroundings and easy accessibility. For families balancing mobility and deployments, continuity can be a vital anchor.
With outstanding pastoral care and staff who truly know each pupil as an individual, parents can feel reassured that their child is safe and can flourish.
With boarding options from Year 5 onwards, continuity of education for pupils aged 9 can be an important consideration. Many girls at St Margaret’s Prep, move up to St Mary’s Calne, our full-boarding school, where our nurturing environment ensure pupils flourish academically, personally and socially, with a busy and fulfilling weekday and weekend programme.
HM Forces discount
Recognising the commitment and dedication of service life, we offer enhanced support through our HM Forces Discount for pupils at both St Margaret’s and St Mary’s Calne. For families eligible for CEA, the fee payable is CEA plus 10% of our boarding fee.
CEA can be available to qualifying service personnel in the year their child turns 8 years (usually Year 3). We currently provide a boarding option from Year 5 onwards. For families without CEA, we offer a 10% discount on boarding or day fees.
These discounts apply to members of the permanent Armed Forces or reservists on full-time duties. For tailored advice, please contact our Admissions Team.
Year 5 and 6 boarding
Early years boarding allows girls to become a full boarder at Calne aged 9 in Year 5, transfer to St Mary’s aged 11, going on to the Sixth Form to take A Levels.
Pathway to St Mary’s
Girls in St Margaret’s can apply to move to St Mary’s in Year 5, before others and without taking the 11+ assessment.
