Year 3 enjoyed an exciting H5 Adventure Camp on our very own Hive field, rising to the challenge of a night away from home with fantastic courage, teamwork, and determination.
The children worked brilliantly together from the start, quickly putting up their own tents before taking them down together the following day. They tackled a range of problem-solving challenges, including the Golden Ball Challenge, where they had to use ropes to move a ball without touching it or letting it fall, navigating a maze and working together to walk across planks, carefully lifting their feet at the same time.
The evening was filled with fun and laughter around the campfire as the children roasted marshmallows and enjoyed delicious hot chocolate. For many, this was a favourite part of the camp, with Ottilie commenting, “I wish we could stay another night!” and Grace said her favourite memory was the “sleeping over part!”
After settling down for a good night’s sleep, the children woke bright and early to a delicious three-course breakfast of cereal, warm croissants and sausages, which were a big hit.
The following day brought more adventures, including bushcraft, where the children learnt how to safely light a fire using flint and cotton wool. They used their fires to make chocolate bananas and popcorn, with Albert excitedly declaring, “That is so good!” They then made their own sandwiches for lunch before finishing the adventure with den building in small teams.
I was incredibly proud of how courageously and brilliantly Year 3 worked together throughout the camp.
