Enterprise Week brought lots of fun and excitement to St Margaret’s, as every class got busy turning a £20 budget into their very own mini business – designing, making and selling their creations at the lively ‘St Margaret’s Marketplace’.
From the very beginning, the whole school was bursting with energy, teamwork and imagination as children transformed their ideas into thriving businesses – all to support the Guide Dogs for the Blind Assocation.
Corridors quickly became filled with colourful, eye-catching posters and persuasive advertisements, while children carried out product questionnaires and market research to discover more about consumer tastes and what might make their products a success. The enthusiasm and determination shown throughout the week was incredible, with pupils developing important skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving and money management along the way.
Each class brought something unique to the marketplace. Reception sold beautiful plants, Year 1 created personalised portraits, Year 2 designed cheerful pom poms, Year 3 baked delicious biscuits, Year 4 launched their flavoured popcorn business, Year 5 ran a lively photo booth and Year 6 impressed customers with their mocktails and handmade keyrings.
Year 4 Class Teacher, Mrs Harlock said: “The St Margaret’s Marketplace was a fantastic celebration of creativity and enterprise, filled with excited customers, confident sales pitches and lots of smiling faces.”
Together, the school raised an incredible £757 for this year’s school charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association with every class making a profit on their original £20. Every penny will go directly towards supporting the Guide Dogs amazing work, making the event not only exciting and memorable, but meaningful too.
