St Margaret’s Calne entered Daisy the Duck in this year’s Calne Duck Race – created by children from the talented Young Artist Club.
Pupils decided on a nature-inspired theme to celebrate the beauty of the natural world. They painted the duck a vibrant green and decorated her with big, bold flowers.
Using acrylic paints, the pupils worked together, taking turns carefully bringing Daisy to life. They all agreed on her name and were very excited to see how she would do in the race. With her bright colours, Daisy was easy to spot as she floated along the river!
One of Calne’s most popular community events, the Calne Duck race, organised by the Calne Lions, saw hundreds of ducks set off along the River Marden in aid of charity. The free event attracted hundreds of families, who lined the riverbanks to cheer on the racing ducks.
